In June, Xiaomi launched its newest wearable, the Mi Band 4 in China. Bringing several improvements over its predecessor, Mi Band 4 was a huge success in its first sales. When this smart wearable was launched in its home country, Xiaomi offered it in two NFC and non-NFC variants.
But when Xiaomi launched it for the global market, Mi-Fans were disappointed because it turned out that the NFC variant was limited to the Chinese market. To bring the benefits of NFC even wider, Xiaomi is reportedly working on the Mi Band 5 which will support NFC both inside and outside the Chinese domestic market.
A little information for you, Mi Band 4 with the NFC feature supports wireless payments that can be used instead of a debit card. And can be used at various merchants that support payments through this application.
Quoted from Gizmochina, Mi Band 5 will bring a number of improvements in terms of hardware, along with a battery capacity that will make it last longer than its predecessor. Talking about the launch date, the Xiaomi smartwatch will be introduced in Q2 2020.
Although not many leaks are available regarding the details of the Mi Band 5 for now. There is information that has been confirmed, that Xiaomi developed this smartwatch in collaboration with Huami. Huami CEO Wang Huang said the company is currently in partnership with Xiaomi for several projects.
